In discussing her inspiration for the project, Jane shared, “I wanted to bring children’s fairy tale stories to life with my studio portraiture for the BC Children’s Hospital Pet Therapy Program calendar for 2025. Celebrating the strength of these incredibly brave young hospital patients, shown alongside some of the beautiful dogs, a bengal cat and a grey rabbit enrolled in the Pet Therapy Program, was the most enriching project I have ever worked on.” Her dedication to honouring both the children and the pets in her photographs made this project deeply meaningful for all involved.

Her ability to blend storytelling with portraiture has set her apart in the world of photography. The Dogs & People category, in particular, challenges photographers to capture the special connection between dogs and their human companions, and Jane’s work has clearly resonated with the judges and the audience alike.
